The Past 2 Weeks

I haven't worked for two weeks - you would think this means I sat around all day blogging my deep thoughts....Nope, no blog for me but I'm here now to catch you up.

Basically nothing exciting happens during the week - Scott and I sleep in, watch TV, look at pickup trucks we can't afford, dream about houses and dogs, eat, eat some more, go to bed and do it all again. However when the weekends come, we have slumber parties with Darren and Amy and lots of good times!

Thurs Feb 4 - Went to Ivory Jack to see "HoBo Jim" He's a classic Alaskan folk singer and actually quite funny and not so politically correct. Highlight of the night was "Old Mc Donald had a Retard Farm"

Friday Feb 5- First time having people stay at our house - a big deal! We went out in Fairbanks - Scott met a friend at the bar (he was wearing a husker hat) the guy said he was related to some famous Husker, however he wouldn't show his ID to prove it, hence I don't believe him.

Darren was so proud of his new shoes, we all liked them a lot but he liked them so much he "smoked em"

Sat Feb 6th - A big day - First we attended the opening ceremony for the Yukon Quest, similar to the Iditerod this is a 1000 mile dog sled race across Alaska. Everyone cheers for Lance Makey, however he can legally smoke marijuana on the trail - some say thats no fair - but if I had to spend a week traveling the Alaskan wilderness by myself I'd do it too!

Ready to hit the trails!

On the loud speaker we hear "If you own a white mini-van - It's On Fire!"

Later that night...... UFC fights at moose creek. Shuffle Board is my favorite - it's the only sport I don't need a handicap to participate in!

Sun Feb 7th Super Bowl!! No wranglers party thanks to Favre - but still lots of food and fun. We played apples to apples, got a little noisy, the cops came, Darren answered the door in his underwear and explained that he had been in bed - no questions asked and good to go

Fri Feb 12 - Went to a Hockey Game pre-gamed at our house because it's one block from the rink, good thing because we were escorted out after twenty mintues.... Ok that needs an explanation - The 4 of us were sitting peacefully amoungst the crowd of drunken men cussing and banging on the glass - Darren went to get beer and was told that security requested that he is not served any more - naturally Scott went and got him a beer - sneaky security were on to us - nice man with the ear piece said Darren wobbled when  we came in and thus if he touches one more beer we will all be leaving - since Darren could not "touch" the beer Scott was generous enough to feed it to him. Sneaky security had were watching in through their little binoculars from the other side of the rink - All four of us had our own personal escort out of the facility.  Now that's hard core - I love Alaska!

Sat Feb 13 - Went  to the Aviator Steak House with 3 other couples - had another adventure.... Our waitress was maybe a little slow, tired, drunk, or otherwise mentally compromised. Food was good but manager felt so bad she payed our $250 dollar bill for us and gave us each a rose - Now thats service!

Sun Feb 14 - Valentines Day - Scottie's least favorite holiday, in fact he generally boycotts it. We bought ourselves a new camera and took a trip to Chena Hot Springs Resort. Went to the "Ice Museum" Surprise - It's made of Ice! It used to be the Ice Hotel (featured on HGTV) the hotel is now closed but 4 ice rooms remain and lots of cool sculptures plus an "ice bar" (see facebook for all 60 pictures). Also took a dip in the natural Hot Springs - Turns out its Japanese custom to visit these magic hot springs and be blessed with fertility  - Scott almost didn't let me in.

Alright thats all for now - more updates to come!
Love you and miss you all!
